Misatango!

The Fairfield County Chorale is thrilled to announce an extraordinary concert experience featuring the high-energy tango rhythms of Argentinian composer Martín Palmeri’s Misa a Buenos Aires, selections from Ola Gjeilo and a world premiere by Evan Fein featuring the poetry of Faith Shearin on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Norwalk Concert Hall.

Misa a Buenos Aires (also known as ‘Misatango’) combines the unique rhythms, harmonies, and beguiling melodies of Argentinian Tango with the traditional liturgical text of the Catholic Mass,” says Fairfield County Chorale music director, David Rosenmeyer.

The “Misatango” concert will feature mezzo-soprano Malena Dayen, as well as Shinjoo Cho on bandoneón and, returning to our stage, members of the Norwalk High School Senior Chorus, music director Steven Oliveri.

In addition to the “Misatango,” the concert will feature selections from Ola Gjeilo, known for his lush harmonies and delicate melodies transporting listeners to a realm of ethereal beauty.  And a World Premiere dedicated to the Fairfield County Chorale and David Rosenmeyer by Evan Fein featuring poetry by Faith Shearin. Fein, presents a distinct musical voice that seamlessly blends elements of classical and contemporary styles, creating a captivating and thought-provoking musical journey.

The Norwalk Concert Hall, known for its superb acoustics, serves as the perfect venue for this momentous occasion. Located at 125 East Avenue, Norwalk, CT, the Concert Hall offers an atmosphere that enhances the auditory and visual experience for concertgoers.

This is the Fairfield County Chorale’s 61st season of presenting great choral works in southwestern Connecticut. Its mission is to champion the appreciation of excellence in choral literature, performing a broad range of choral music for the benefit of the community. The Chorale is comprised of 80+voices, and every concert is presented with professional musicians and soloists.  The FCC has presented a number of U.S. and world premieres and has performed at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York, and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
